mastering

once again, I need your help with mastering:

I got T-racks and I can say that loudness and eqing is comparable with some professional productions BUT everything in the song is loud:

Imagine a track like Cosmic Gate the truth: there are silent parts ( when the pad comes in and the voice it telling you about the truth ) and loud parts ( where bassline, bassdrum and melody is reaching the final )...

In my track is everything loud the silent and the loud parts ...
How can I get more dynamics in it ?

You can't "make" dynamics when mastering... if they aren't there to start with they certainly aren't going to be there when you finish. The only thing you can do is lose dynamic contrast by compressing... and that's definately not what you want.

I'm not sure if I understood what you meant, but I'll try and help. The problem most likely lies in the mixing stage, before the mastering. You have control over the loudness of each part, so use that to your advantage. If just a pad is playing, put the gain low... when things start heating up you can increase the volume. But bear in mind that when you add parts in things are already going to start getting louder... so you may be able to get away with not having to change the volume.

Automation is the key... with it you can change the volume of each part throughout the song.

Adding dynamic contrast is NOT something you want to do when mastering.

I'm also not sure if I understood you correctly and I'm not good at mixing or mastering... but I hope I helped.

With the Izotope Oozone Plugin there ARE Dynamic Equalizers and stuff...load your mp3(wav ??) into a editor with Izotope.
And if this doesn't help you have to mix the track again(all instruments at different Volumes etc..)

This might be crazy but what you can do is to use real time processing when you process your song in T-racks and when doing that you can turn the knobs to T-racks and adjust how much compression you want.. say you want little compression in your breakdowns.. then you can do this tweaking it live in t-racks

Dunno if it will actually work but it's worth a try, isnt it?

it worked perfectly but I also recognized that the unmastered source material was not mixed well enough...

Your problem is the software you're using, its not exactly "top notch".

You might wanna try Waves Masters Bundle instead.

I get pretty decent results with T-racks.. at least they are much better than what I get with multiband compressors. It's probably just that I know R-racks better..

Do you got any good multiband mastering tips, i.e. how to get it loud and kicking without distortion?

edit.. weee! I'm supreme

This may or may not be what you're looking for, but seperate all your track elements into each tehir own trak. for exapmaple....all kiks into one trak, all hihats into one trak, all minor, mid, and higher melodies each in their own trak, etc...... into wav or mp3 onto your computer.
Get a copy of Sonic Foundry's Acid Pro 3.0/4.0 working on your computer and load ALL the traks from your song. Arrange them as required and apply volume or/and panning envelopes to them to adjuct adequately. In the end, after LOTS of tweaking, you'll be able to balance verything out. Trust me it's worht the time spent.

Yeah, you can probably get very neat results doing so, but it's going to take ages Anyway, why don't you do that when you are working with your song in your sequencer?
