Are they treating minorities a different way or is this just political? I would like some educated thoughts on this. Is there a core problem we don't know about or are not discussing? Is it all a joke since society needs scapegoats for their anger, and frustration? Is it purely based on religion? since alot of people are starting to think that religious people are not very bright.

I'm just wondering because I've seen these kinds of things first hand for a while now and no one seems to come to their aid at which point I feel need to step in and resolve the situation. For example there's this girl at work who wears the burka/scarf(?) and gets treated very poorly by some people who I thought were bright and level-headed and don't have such a low level mindset. The same thing happens with the jews. Upon knowing that one's jewish/paki, the jokes start and can get very inappropriate very soon not to mention how they treat the gay community which is equally worse. Now this is a very small group of people at work like 3-4 but I was shocked to hear their opinions on minorities.

Does this kind of thing ever happen where you work? (I work in an office building in the financial district btw)


I feel that the world needs to evolve and get past these things.

There are 1.3 billion Muslims in this world: they're hardly a minority.

Sounds like you've got it bassackward. Seems like the bigots in your office are the minority, which also probably explains why they're acting the way they do - they feel threatened, and that's how they express their discomfort.

If anything, there's an overdose of hate between Muslims and Jews, in every country (or can I say specifically hatred towards Jews?). In Canada, the level of racism and hatred towards minorities is quite low ... when compared to most of the rest of the world.
