Hello fellow ATL TAs,

I just moved here from Chicago about 6 weeks ago for school. Anyone have suggestions for places to go out? I'm just looking for a place with a dance floor and decent EDM / non-top 40 playing. A decent crowd would be nice (as in, no sweaty guys wearing UGA or Auburn hats). Hopefully I'm not asking for too much...

My classmates dragged me out to some crappy bar in Buckhead tonight for someone's birthday. The place had a beer pong room, a karaoke room, and a room with a dance floor. The DJ was playing 90s pop for the first hour or so and then "mixed" Skrillex's entire discography for the rest of the evening... facepalm.

I was more looking for a place I can go to on any random weekend, not a big event or festivals.

I am not really big on ATL nightlife, but the only place that rings a bell to me is Opera.

Check out Kai Alce, who throws a monthly called Distinctive and runs a record label called NDAtl. The Sound Table is a good place for you to be looking, as far as smaller venues/not-pop-EDM go. There's usually something going on there every weekend.
