What's the "in" genre these days?
What type of music is everyone out there listening to these days? What's the "big" genre this year so far? After reading on trance.nu that Ibiza has strayed from trance lately, I'm wondering what's popular these days in electronic music.
I was hoping 2002 would be the year of trance, but that doesn't seem to be the case

i kind of like that future 80s/international gigolo sound but apparently it's on the cover some mainstream electronic mags now so perhaps it might be on the downswing.

Well said. hehe... when I read the title, this is basically what I planned to write, in a nutshell.
Listen to what you like, and let the radio worry about what's "in"

I'd say Trance is the best...but people in my country don't agree with me.
For them the in sound is....Tech House,
progressive House...ect
I don't know excatly why but probably the dj's choose house becasue it's easier to mix....he he he....but that's the truth.

I think last year was the the year of House. Many big tunes were realeasede and got lots of airplay and stuff etc.
This coming year (2002/2003) i think is becoming the year of R n B (here in the UK) because many Garage acts are now producing tunes with an RnB style, to cash in and follow a trend.
Trancey stuff will always be popular, but it will be diffiuclt to emulate 99, as people move on to different musical tastes when they grow up.
