Sandro Silva & Quintino - Epic : Sampled from another song?

So this song is making it big in the club circle, but I swear I've heard that synth line at 0:45 somewhere before. Some old techtrance song perhaps? I recall instead of a two note melody, it was a repeated four-note melody...

Anyone out there have any idea what I'm talking about?

it is from a hard trance track in 2002. Can't remember the name tho, But ya, i believe the first group to use that sound which has become sort of a cliche in that so many have used it was cosmic gate's firewire.

not saying it isn't there but a minor 3 interval is so ubiquitous in dance that i think it would be a stretch to say this was an influence. I wish i could think of the producer, but it has those same distorted toms and the same melody. That is why it stood out for me, the sound, same interval, same rhythm. It is driving me nuts because i've heard it years ago and this track is new.

thank god i'm not the only one! yeah i'm thinking also that its on one of my old harder trance vinyls...i just have no idea where to start looking. please let me know if you find it.

nope its def not the art of trance song. the song i have in my head is almost a like-for-like sample as used in the sandro silva song. on a side note, it appears here as well.

So every time I make a melody line with a chord that starts at the highest two notes, then the lowest two notes my song is now related to Epic?

for some reason i'm thinking it was around like when Showtek first started before doing that annoying hardstyle. Or like among those artists like Kaylab and stuff. I honestly could not find it. Maybe we are all just experiencing false memory. Read a recent study and makes you a little less certain when you think you remember things.

its definitely a sound used in a lot of edm, but the sample from epic is just too close to a song that I've heard before.

yeah I know about false memory recalls and stuff...if so, this is certainly a collective false memory as I have other friends who have also heard it before!

Re: Sandro Silva & Quintino - Epic : Sampled from another song?

The song that you are referring to is "Cafe Del Mar" by Energy 52. It was actually released in 1998, and it's pretty prominent on the "Original Three 'N' One Edit" of the song, which was big on radio and in the clubs, etc. I was listening to Epic on the Swedish House Mafia "Until Now" album and just released I had heard that loop from somewhere before, too. It's amazing that they have used that bit and updated it and put it into this track! Quite awesome! This is my first post to this blog by the way! Brand new member, but thought I'd share the fun fact! Hope this helps!

was about to post this, the bongos are taken from this, well i don't know if it's a rip off as that bongos don't follow a complex pattern to be honest. Armin played this on a set i catched him in june, he still plays some bangers from time to time... although i think the reason behind is that he wanted to make a call to the Epic track though but in a trance key.

Track is really big, Sandro Silva became big due to this, i've casually seen him play a set a few weeks ago in Madrid consisting in dubstep and electro that pierced my ears all the way through...

I see influences of the pirates of caribean OST on the melodic part, track is catchy everybody loves it but it's far from being a master piece.
