Silk Textures' 32nd release, "4U," is a new deep house "experiment" by Ukrainian artist Yuriy Mikhailov, already well known in melodic progressive house circles as meHiLove. One of the highlights on Shingo Nakamura's Only Silk 01 compilation (which just arrived on big-brother label Silk Digital), this romantic tune is highlighted by a heavenly female vocal sample and a variety of gorgeous piano motifs. There's also a rather soothing, subby bassline and chunky rhythm, which give the track a versatility for the dancefloor.

Norwegian progressive sensation Espen, whose "From Floppy" was a standout on this year's Silk Royal Showcase 02 compilation, offers the first of two superlative interpretations. His mix begins with a shuffling, almost "tech-y" rhythm; however, at the quarter turn, the beats drop out, and a soothing, evocative deep house classic emerges. Specifically, a gut-busting sub gives the track a cavernous groove, as a lovely lead synth offers crystalline melodic tones. In addition, Espen has processed the vox in a tremendously innovative (and sexy) way.

Irish artist Shane Robinson, who has emerged this past year as one of our most consistent contributors, offers a more upbeat, progressive house take. A layered bassline and arp give the track a great opening "drive," while the gorgeous vocal motifs also begin to fill out the soundscape. As the track progresses, a top layer to the bassline is added and new arps are introduced. Meanwhile, the timeless piano themes enhance the atmospheric reverie of the listener.
