Thumbs up needles advice needed

I need new carts and needles. I want ortofon concordes and i heard that you can buy the cheapest concorde pro cart and just add nightclub needles later. Is this the best way to go? Oh and does anybody know if shure m447's are any good? Any help is appreciated, thanks!

It can be done, but like I said in a previous post, there is no consensus yet if the quality difference is only in the stylus tip (and not the cartridge also). Half of the people say that if you get a Concorde Pro S, with the tip of a Nightclub, you'll get the sound of a Nightclub, others say you'll need the cartridge also to benefit of the sound. I haven't been able to verify this myself yet (and of course Ortofon won't respond to that).

The Shure m44-7 are the turntablist standard, virtually unskippable, and they don't need much weight, very high output also. But in my opinion they sound a little bit harsh (great for emphasising the scratches) for the music I spin. This doesn't mean you'll have the same opinion about them. The best advice I can give you is to go listen to them.

Both the Ortofons and the Shures are great needles, you will get quality no matter what.
