D&B vocal track > 'Red Dawn'.

My second D&B outing. Inspired by a 3 second clip I saw of the new film 'Red Dawn'.

Dunno whether to add more melodic detail and more drum variation?

I have to sing quietly here, maybe I need to redo the vocals when everyone is out?

He Rich,

That's an awesome project.
Sounds to me that you have found your place in music.

A sumptuous blend of trance and drum and bass.
Only on headphones and mobile atm. Will listen and comment when I get chance, but sounds good so far.

Cheers
Nem

Cheers

Oooh you biyatch!! lol. What is the funny element for ya? I don't like following styles so maybe this blend of late 90's tance and up to date D&B is just not working as a concept?

The pic lead sound is a gamble as it's very close to that classic late 90's 'I can't get no sleep' track, but this is very deliberate of me as I feel a revival is due!

I'm not abandoning any of these D&B projects. I'm working on a huge (for me that is) D&B track just now. I'm then going to go back and finish all 3 of them and go for a release or 2. I now liking working this way, where I have a good gap before going back and finishing.

So in terms of this track right here I will finish it soon.

Thanks for the comment chaps.

Your drums are way too static for a drum & bass track, at least with the style you were going for. It seems like you were trying to do the dirty reese thing (partly) but your track has none of that energy.

For the record, this is my favorite d&b tracks with male vocals. I was absolutely addicted to this when it came out.

Lol, every time I have to touch/work with 90's material is turning into a funny project lol (at least for me) - it was simply my assumption man, all the best and I hope you will be able to finish it

Rich I'm really digging this a lot.

You need to push those vocals forward a bit. I think just re-establishing some top end in them would help a lot. It's like you're not sure if your voice is ok and you're burying it a bit. Trust me, it's ok!

I agree about the energy to a certain extent as well, but I suspect what you're missing is just a little more in the way of hats.

The mix of the kick and bass is spot on for me. I know you worry about the mix sometimes, compared to other louder tracks, but for me your signature sound is that dirty, crunchy power that you're so good at getting. That's much harder to get right than a clean digital mix so just stick with what you're doing is what I say!
