Thumbs down Anybody call for some Sarin?

quote:
The Syrian military is prepared to use chemical weapons against its own people and is awaiting final orders from President Bashar Assad, U.S. officials told NBC News on Wednesday.

The military has loaded the precursor chemicals for sarin, a deadly nerve gas, into aerial bombs that could be dropped onto the Syrian people from dozens of fighter-bombers, the officials said.

I desperately hope this is a plea from the international community to spark serious negotiations, because the deployment of a weapon of mass destruction is absolutely intolerable. I only fear that it is going to make Russia and the US butt heads in a huge way, but the contention over Turkish relations might just be the only passable force to prevent this; then again, it might very well be a desperate measure over said relations.

Assad's government needs to be disemboweled.

I've been talking with some people I know, in both the air force and army, and the situation sounds not good at all.

Essentially the guys we have in theater right now, special forces of NATO nations, which is public info (aka the "advisors") need to get on top of this situation right now, like within the next 24 hours.

That being said, if this happens the conflict enters the end-game. It sounds like the US is ready to pounce, along with other NATO forces.

The main thing that lends credence to this though is that NATO authorized deployment of Patriot systems into southern Turkey this morning.

Did people forget that a despicable leader was deposed and that Iraq now has a constitution for its people and free elections? Yeah, actually, they did forget, because what's true and right doesn't matter to anyone, they have to pay taxes and Obamahhhh, etc.

Except the intelligence here is credible, verifiable by government, military, and civilian sources, almost every nation agrees on it, and there is a massive civil war going on right now.

That's really awful, and it's not unfair at all to say that the US invasion some years ago brought supreme unrest to the region. But how many hundreds if not thousands would have been oppressed and tortured and killed by Saddam's horrendous regime in the last decade? In the last few weeks, alone? There's no way to tell the number, but he was a dictator that absolutely needed to be brought down, not unlike Assad.

It's easy to take for granted the "peace" that fascism brings when you look at the numbers, but an intervention in Iraq was absolutely necessary, although it's wholly regrettable that the US took so very much responsibility for that conflict of necessity, and under such suspicious auspices. Like Nou said, this is a different scenario; people aren't being presented lies and fear in order to support the rightful resistance to what will likely be considered a genocide once the smoke has cleared.

This doesn't sound like the normal Hal...

Taking down Saddam was not worth it in the least bit.
