That's really awful, and it's not unfair at all to say that the US invasion some years ago brought supreme unrest to the region. But how many hundreds if not thousands would have been oppressed and tortured and killed by Saddam's horrendous regime in the last decade? In the last few weeks, alone? There's no way to tell the number, but he was a dictator that absolutely needed to be brought down, not unlike Assad.
It's easy to take for granted the "peace" that fascism brings when you look at the numbers, but an intervention in Iraq was absolutely necessary, although it's wholly regrettable that the US took so very much responsibility for that conflict of necessity, and under such suspicious auspices. Like Nou said, this is a different scenario; people aren't being presented lies and fear in order to support the rightful resistance to what will likely be considered a genocide once the smoke has cleared.
