help?

Dedication / Tension / Aggression / I'm fed up with everything / - Just a concept showdown.

Hey guys,

New here. I am registered in FutureProducers, but since they are not that much into the Dance/Trance/Electro genre and stuff related to it, I found myself a comunity closer to me.

Before you listen, i wanted to say couple of things.
- This mix is just a concept. Pure idea layed down. The mix is crappy itself, many sounds peaking, need more drops, touch of sound engeneering, sound replacement for much bigger variety and personality of track
- I'm sorry if that transition white noise will give you effect of bleeding ears, I have ruined my project, made couple of backups and made a mess and have actually lost many of them. I actually had to glue parts of tracks together to make something to show off, so I have no ability to edit it anymore. About that white noise - didn't want EQing to spoil the character of the track, since many instruments lay in the same frequency as white noise and if I EQ down tops (>18kHz) track is not that..bright anymore.
- I plan (and actually work on it) to make this track again, from scratch. This is just a pure try-to-lay-down the concept, about which I want to hear opinions. Worth it or isn't?

Well, first off, I like what I'm hearing. Secondly, you seem to have already outlined the problems most people would point out. The only critique I can think to add, at this point, is that there isn't enough progression in your parts and it begins to sound repetitious after a while.

Given what you've outlined above, what do you need help with? I suppose I'd start by simply lowering the volume on some elements that appear too prominently rather than trying to EQ them at effort to reign in their adverse attributes. You've got some rather big sounding elements that aren't going to be hurt by pulling them back in relation to some of the others they are masking/cluttering.

If you have specific questions as to how to go about addressing some of the issues you've outlined above, that might be a good place to start. As a suggestion, it might help give you some much needed perspective to listen to and critique some of the other contributions here, if you haven't already.

I hear some very intersting things in this track.

Sure there are mix down issues in this, you have compressed the hell out of it not to mention that the bottom end has been rolled off to buggery.

Need some clarification on where in the track we actually come in. If this is the intro then I think it's all wrong.

However, if you took out the kick and percussion in that 2 minute build, which by the way has some nice instrumentation work. You would have a nice breakdown, your drop would logically be the bit at 2:15, but I think you need a really dirty electro sound on top of it, not just that bass patch in the background now, but something that wobbles and snarles as it if will bite your hand off.

Musically this is a good concept and I would like to hear you finish this as I think this has good potential.

Cheers
Nem
