A Kind Request for Everyone Who Is Promoting a Track

Can you please make it downloadable? is that too much to ask ffs? i think you might get more feedback. thanks and have a nice day.

ps

when you make a track downloadable please make sure you give it the proper title and include your name in the file name. also include them both in the id3 tag and include your username@tranceaddict and maybee even the link page too (often your artist name is different than your user name). so many times i'll download a track and listen to it sometime later but i don't know whose it is. why make it hard?

There are a plethora of reasons many of us can't. If your track is posted publicly on the Internet most labels will refuse to sign it.

i didn't consider that, nevertheless if someone makes it available they should name and tag it correctly.

so the promoters here are trying to generate interest? is that the plan, and then try to license it?

that is true... but most people aren't good enough to get signed.. why not make it free and downloadable... that way they can actually build up a fanbase and become established.. ? know what I'm saying

Actually, most of the posts in this subforum are by the artists themselves, not by agents or promoters.

I agree with no making things downloadable. If anything, its an instant not signed. If the artist never anticipates shopping the tune, then I can understand.

I don't think labels are turned away from songs on Soundcloud really - but Youtube doesn't help in most cases. Mass mailing tracks to a bunch of different labels doesn't either.

If you're shopping a tune for signage, pick your top 5 labels that you think you could actually get signed to and want to be a part of. Send it to each one individually and don't be sad if a label doesn't respond, the mailbox is flooded with demos because people don't put the thought behind it.

Also, be sure to properly put MP3 tags and file name your demo correctly. In other words, make sure it has Artist - Title (Mix). Don't send Works in progress either (aka WIPs). If you keep sending WIPs, labels will ignore you.

I know I went off topic, but since I A&R I figured I'd put in some advice.

Streaming in your post should be more than easy enough for people to respond in this forum in my honest opinion.
