So apparently there is a video being passed around the internet produced by non-profit Invisible Children, which pledges to make extremely evil Ugandan warlord Joseph Kony famous, "not to celebrate him, but to raise support for his arrest and set a precedent for international justice."
Since when is this a brand new thing? The only way people are able to care about Ugandan children is when it shows up on their facebook feed? I understand the cause behind Invisible Children, but playing to peoples emotions so that they can share a 30 minute video on twitter is a fucking joke.

Both the Ugandan army and Sudan People's Liberation Army are riddled with accusations of rape and looting, but Invisible Children defends them, arguing that the Ugandan army is "better equipped than that of any of the other affected countries", although Kony is no longer active in Uganda and hasn't been since 2006 by their own admission. Thesebooks each refer to the rape and sexual assault that are perennial issues with the UPDF, the military group Invisible Children is defending.

Your irritation seems vague and undirected. The basic point here is that atrocities are committed all over the world that are completely ignored by the Western media. How exactly would the average person know about situations like this without investigative journalism?
Also, this thing has gone massively viral extremely quickly. I can't recall anything quite like this happening before through social media. It's possible (albeit by no means certain) that mass public outcry will pressure governments into taking action, especially with elections coming up. At this early stage, and without any exact precedent, your dismissal of this as "armchair activism" is somewhat unfair.
Your cynicism basically seems to amount to "Something popular is happening on Facebook, I must instantly dismiss it".
