I know a lot of you have an (undying) love for music. Can any of you play an instrument? If so, what instrument(s) can you play? Also, did you have any professional training for it (such as band class in school, private lessons, etc.) or are you self-taught?
I'll start with myself: I have played all kinds of percussion instruments (drums, keyboard instruments, etc.) throughout middle school and high school. I've also marched snare all 4 years of high school (yay, back problems for eternity!) I also self-taught myself the acoustic guitar.
I find that when I listen to music, I really pay attention to the percussive aspects of a track since I have such a heavy background in it.
I'm really interested in what instruments you all play.

I've been playing electric bass and electric guitar for two years now. Although I mostly focus on death metal, I'd like to build my chops to play some fusion.
I also have a drum kit I mess around with in my free time.

Violin, Bass (both double and electric, won a few state competitions and performed with Destiny's Child ), Alto Sax, Guitar, Drums.
Formally trained in saxaphone, piano and guitar. Self taught ukulele, mandolin, sitar and drums (the sitar being the most difficult due to the complexity of learning Raagas and Taaths which do not follow western musical theory)

I used to play the trumpet since I was like 7 years old, played total for about 11 years give or take, just don't have time for it anymore cuz I never planned on becoming a professional eg. school and work take most of my time.
