Hey, Adam420. I live in Chicago. Let me know if there's anything I can help with.

Also, I recommend bringing a heavy, rain-resistant jacket and umbrella just in case the weather does something crazy. It's been raining a lot here, but it's also supposed to get warm this weekend.

Thanks. Do you know if there are any good record shops besides Gramaphone? Looking for dance music.

Also, I might want to get some weed while I'm there. Where should I go for that if I'm desperate?

Lastly, what do I have to eat while I'm there?

On Saturday night I'm going to Jerry's since they have an event that night with Innerspace Halflife and a few other local live acts.

Gramaphone Records is thee record store in Chicago.. I make an effort every time I visit Chicago. Derrick Carter would sometimes work the register.

For food try, Uno's Chicago Deep Dish pizza or Billy Goat's is a famous place to visit.

I don't want the obvious tourist stuff but billy goat I might try looks decent. But I thought people from Chicago don't actually like deep dish pizza. It looks terrible anyway so I'm not interested. I want the good shit. I want to try that italian roast beef sandwich that's dipped in the juices the meat is cooking in. Supposed to be very good.

And yes pretty much going to Gramaphone as soon as I check in at the hotel. It's record store day and there will be live performances until 8:30 but unfortunately I'll be missing a Bonobo DJ set.

I RESIDE IN THE AREA

First of all, deep dish is delicious. If you like pizza, this is pretty much the place. Beggar's is the my personal favorite, and their deep dish is the shit. Besides that there are still tons of places I could say you will have great pizza. Connie's, Barraco's, Gino's East, Giordano's, etc. Just make a blind pick, for real. There's also a place called Cavatappi on the south side (Evergreen Park) that does "authentic" Italian pizza. Small, brick oven things. Well priced too, IMO.

If you're more downtown, then just about everything is good, but it's also all extremely fucking expensive. Billy Goat's isn't a bad suggestion, but prepare for long waits. But seriously just pick something and you'll probably enjoy it.

For Italian beef... I feel bad saying Portillo's because it's gotten really... chainy, you know? But it's really good, regardless. Big beef with cheese, hot AND sweet peppers, always. Al's Beef is also really good. If you go to Al's also ask for red sauce on the sandwich. You see in Chicago, you have to order everything with ALL the toppings. The way you want it, with the juices, you can usually just ask them to make it wet (some people say dipped? Idk to me it's always been dry or wet) and you'll get what you want. Prepare for a messy ass sandwich though. A wet Italian beef with cheese, red sauce, and peppers might as well be eaten out of a bowl, for real.

If you want dining, I'd recommend checking out the restaurants in the West Loop on Randolph St. I usually eat at Mexican diners that serve $5 burritos, so I can't offer up too many places (unless that's what you're into!)

Seconded on Grampahone. There is a place called Reckless Records next to where I live in Wicker Park/Bucktown, and although it does not specialize in electronic music, you can find some weird stuff there. The other one down the road closed, and I'm sure others are poised to follow suit... The Silver Room (same area) is a clothing boutique that carries some interesting stuff and is at least worth stopping in.

Definitely feel free to shoot me a private message if you want to meet up. I usually hang out in my apartment writing tracks and really only leave for shows or work, haha.

Gramaphone is the best record store in the city. Reckless isn't bad. There are a few other places I can list that are a bit off of the beaten path if you're feeling adventurous.

If you want to hit up a great Sunday party check out Queen! at Smartbar. Great people watching / music.

Food - if you want a token Chicago food experience you can eat stuff like Italian beef and deep dish pizzas. Obviously there is far better food in the city than that. If you've got preferences on any particular style let me know and I can make recommendations for you.
