All music is based on theory, to a certain degree. I'm getting more interested in beginning to create some tracks, but I want to learn a bit more. I listen to everything I can, but does anyone know of any on-line resources discussin rhythm patterns/timing, fundamentals of progession, etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

yeah that gary ewer's music thing is really good for those who don't know anything about music structure and makeup.. it'll help if you have a keyboard (even virtual) to understand the chords and stuff
more of an intro, it doesn't "teach" you to make chords progress or anything

this drum thing is hard to get.. heh

yes... piano definitely helps
creativity-wise too, not just w/ polish

maybe take a few lessons and learn the basics, chords major/minor, etc
