While not it's *first* peak, it marked the earlier portion of what I would definitely consider to be one. That whole period from roughly 2003-2006 was quite a terrific time for trance. ASOT and GDJB were week after week featuring some of the best trance I've (to this day) ever heard, Armin's and Schulz's compilation series had just kicked off what would be three solid years of quality installments, the ISOS series was back and sounding great, production tools and techniques had really begun to pick up...
Alex Stealthy, Funabashi, Mark Otten, Peter Martin, Kyau & Albert, Super8 & Tab, Ozgur Can, Mike Foyle, Probspot, Benz & MD, Gabriel & Dresden....yeah...those were some great times.
I miss McProg.

i've this mix and i feel it's a little overrated, may be a good year as the tracks featured in this mix are like the 2nd generation classics like hammer & bennet - language, origene sanctuary, Armin stuff or adagio for strings, mark Otten - tranqility, yimanya, solid globe-sahara etc... but i remember listening to this last year on the airport and almost falling asleep (8 hours waiting for a plane might have affected my overall mood though).
2004 seems to be the last good year of trance but not the best for sure, till 2005 even the Armada label released class stuff, then it all went into the pop direction that rules nowadays.

That sub label had more quality releases signed to it than everything on and under Armada combined:
Clear Blue
Perfect Wave
Arcadia
She Turns
Simply Blue
In the End
...wow. And I think those were all in the same volume!
