I realise that this is entirely subjective, but is your music good?
Right now, in time, doesn't differ much from any other point in time - Good musicians will make good music, shit musicians will make shit music. I fall into the latter category, and gave up producing a long time ago
What has made it really tough, especially for electronic music producers, is the accessibility of the tools you need to make music. In the 90s (perhaps the peak of electronic music) you had to be pretty dedicated. Drop a couple of grand $$$ minimum on some decent gear, and learn to use it all.
Powerful computers, and more importantly, powerful software that can be easily pirated, changed all that. Anyone can have a go at it now, you don't need the money, just a good computer.
There's still loads of good music being created, it just takes waaaaay longer to sift through it all, so it's more difficult to get "recognized" as you put it.
Lots of other bits and pieces to add to it all... it's a huge scene now.
Long post, lol. Not even sorry that I've been drinking
