That's strange - setting must have changed on my PC for some reason.

Both sets available in 320 kbps here

For the first mix: This had a really good start... and then the unicorns with purple and green flashey lazerbeams coming from their heads appeared. Once those losers were gone after about 15 minutes the mix went back to really nice again though. Pretty good overall and definitely expertly crafted.

That's a stupid fucking review. Top quality prog-psy centered around epic melodies don't qualify as "purple lazer unicorns". Tracks like Funk Truck - Beyond & Over, and Magnus - Edge Traversal are legendary progressive psytrance bombs and should be given more respect than what you are offering. This set was an excellent opener. What would you have played, darkpsy?

Interesting that you conisder any of this to be unicorn fodder - you are obviously referring to Romio & Juliet through to Edge Traversal. I just think they are solid uplifting tunes with very mild psychedelic influences - nothing crass or cheesey.

I dont know how obvious it is but i wasnt planning on playing them - it took a lot longer to fill up than i thought. Apparently the doors didnt open for about 20 mins and it felt wrong playing heavy tunes like the hypnocoustics one. This would probably be considered a very trancy set for IllumiNaughty but Ive seen opening DJs do hideous work opening with full on psy, and I though I did a good job here :-)

Hope you like the after party set anyway - no pussy shit there

LOL. This was a really well crafted opener Jon.

And as I said Saturday night I really enjoyed the afterparty set. Usually not my style of music but it was relentless.

I still would say Edge Traversal is one of my top 5 favorite trance tunes of all time.

Yea its a brilliant track Nick! Interesting how when ive used it in the past its been a big climax at the end of a trance set, but it seems to work just as well early on in a prog psy set :-)

Chill. All I meant was "some of these tunes are a bit too trancey for my taste" but in more colourful language. Obviously the crowd might really enjoy that sortof music so it's simply a matter of preference. It's good that it was approximately interpreted as that and I'm definitely looking forward to listening to the second set. Overall the first set was really good regardless. All the tracks were well placed (including those 2) and chosen quite well for mood.

I'm just saying, these are great tunes that don't deserve that label, even if you were half-joking. I've played several of those on previous mixes of mine and I would be remiss if I didn't show my love for them. It would be different if he was playing Armin Van Burren. Show more respect to prog-psy producers.
