can't stand the track or the guy but i was surprised they managed to win that case given the laws of copyright. They are similar in 2 ways, the arrangement and rhythm, 2 things you can't copyright. The harmony and actual track are not in any way similar. The hook is not in any way borrowing from marvin gay's track.

nothing's been won yet, as far as i've seen in the news. i think the gayes just settled their claim against EMI for failing to protect the gaye catalog, given that they own the rights to both the gaye song and the thicke song. the copyright case between gaye and thicke is still ongoing.
