"[Metallica drummer] Lars Ulrich stopped in the other day wondering why his last royalty check was so small, and I didn't know what to say. How do you tell a man who's devoted his whole life to his music that someone is able to just give it away for free? That pirates are taking away his right to support himself with his craft?"

Doesn't lars have enough money from the napster business to fulfill his coke habit for the rest of his life?

"It's criminal," RIAA president Hilary Rosen said. "Anyone at any time can simply turn on a radio and hear a copyrighted song. Making matters worse, these radio stations often play the best, catchiest song off the album over and over until people get sick of it. Where is the incentive for people to go out and buy the album?"

hehe, one day they might really say it

lol, they only catch onto this now?????
how long has the friekin radio been around??? no one was complaining 10-20 yrs ago

quote:
Continued Rosen: "According to our research, there is one of these Top 40 stations in every major city in the country. This has to be stopped before the music industry's entire economic infrastructure collapses."

might help if you stop paying them millions of dollars to produce crappy pop records, which can be produced in a day tops

if you ask me the reason why they're losing their money is cause the quality of mainstream music is just shite, and more and more people are turning to less commercial stuff (ie trance), how many one hit wanders do you hear nowdays, they've tried to turn the music industry into a production line, they just constantly churn out the same poppy crap all the time, if they want us to stop stealing their music they should release something worth the 30 or so dollars they charge for cd's nowdays

quote:
Eminem said, “I'm sorry; when I worked 9-to-5, I expected to get a paycheck every week. It's the same with music; if I'm putting my heart and all my time into music, I expect to get rewarded for that. I work hard and anybody can just throw a computer up and download my music for free. It could kill the whole purpose of making music."

correct me if im wrong, but wasnt music developed as a means of self-expression, and the purpose of selling music to share peoples talent with others???

ps i'm talkin about mainstream music hear, for example that stupid fuck eminem, who thinks the purpose of music is to make money
GOD THIS WHOLE TOPIC PISSES ME OFF SOOOOO MUCH!!!!!!

"I've heard reports that children as young as 8 tape radio broadcasts for their own personal use," Rosen said. "They listen to a channel that has a limited rotation of only the most popular songs—commonly called 'Top 40' stations—then hit the 'record' button when they hear the opening strains of the song they want. And how much are they paying for these songs? A big fat zip."

*blood pressure rises*

Maybe she should go after the 8 year olds then?

quote:
"What's the point of putting out a new Ja Rule or Sum 41 album if people can just call up and hear any song off the album that they want?" Frackman asked. "In some instances, these stations actually have the nerve to let the caller 'dedicate' his act of thievery to a friend or lover. Could you imagine a bank letting somebody rob its vaults and then allowing the thief to thank his girlfriend Tricia and the whole gang down at Bumpy's?"

Holy fuck!!! Thats the most fucked up analogy I've ever heard in my life. The amount of shit flying out of these people's mouths is mind-boggling. I really really want to kill that fat bitch...and the artists that support them...LOL, "artists"
