I'm afraid not dude, always found 192kbps perfectly fit for purpose for home listening and as this was recorded directly onto a digital recorder @ 192kbps I don't even have a higher bitrate version kicking around I can link you up with, sorry!

I've a decent sound system and to me bitrate makes a difference.

Quite disappointed with this one actually. I haven't heard one of your mixes in ages and was really looking forward to this. You couldn't seem to establish a direction. You'd play a standard prog-psy track, then a jump-up high-energy track, then an uninteresting minimalistic track, then a melodic track, then another track with no substance... you repeated this formula a few times. The end of the mix kinda petered off, there wasn't much to look forward to honestly. Also your transitions were a mixed bag to say the least. Some were spot on, and others, your phrasing was way off, where beats were going during the breakdown and your programming wasn't taking full advantage of the energy you had built up. Quite distracting really.

I know you're better than this. Take more time to choose tracks that fit together. Not many of these tracks made any sense next to one another! Dig a little deeper mate. All of these artists are played out, and they don't always play well together just because they are most commonly seen with each other.

I look forward to your next one, I know it will be better.

As always your feedback is appreciated, even if I don't agree with some of it, but that's the joy of opinions!

I wasn't looking to create a mix that continued to build up energy throughout, more one that ebbed and flowed, which I think can work pretty well with the progressive side of things. And the ordering of the tracks was subsequently more from a harmonic viewpoint as all of the tracks are melodic, which as you know is generally my style. There was certainly no putting tracks together on the basis of the artists being commonly seen together.

On the transitions, as with almost all of my mixes this was done in one take, I put the tracks in the order I want and then hit record. I've never seen the point of practicing a mix over and over until ever mix is absolutely spot on. I wouldn't do that for a gig when playing out so I don't believe I should represent myself that way with my mixes. The phrasing was definitely out in one place, but having listened back over it several times I decided it didn't warrant a re-record as it's not that noticeable (although trained ears like yours are obviously much more likely to pick up on this).

Obviously each to their own and all that and your points have all been taken on board

Well that's okay. I don't often agree with criticism either, but I usually take it as valid. I'm sure you can find some truth in my statements.

I understand that you weren't going for a basic progressive energy building or anything, but there is a major difference between creating a mix that ebbs and flows and programming your mix in a way that has no structure or rhythm. After you played Vibrating, the transition was a mess and you didn't move into any sort of ideas that were compatible with the direction you were trying to establish. It's like playing a bomb and following up with a dud. That's not ebb and flow, that's a massive drop in energy. When you played Copenhagen Knights I said to myself "THIS is the Ped I know" and was hoping you would build on that very melodic style. But you didn't

That's fine that you did it in one take, and it's fine that you didn't plan out your transitions or anything like that. But if you are recording a mix for people to download and listen to as a representation of your style, you should get to know your tracks a little better first. I'm certain that if I was on the floor dancing to your tunes, I would be straight up confused by the mixing and it would have killed my mojo. All I'm trying to say is that you just gotta tighten up the mixing next time. I'm sure that's something you can agree with as well.

Overall, I understand that you don't agree with me, but we could all use a little improvement. Hell, I plan out my mixes months and months in advance and prepare everything from the purpose to the cover photo well ahead of time. Doing it on the fly, I might have results more similar to yours, but I just hope you dig a little deeper and get to know your tracks more before you press record. I hope you take my advice and I look forward to your next mix, as always.

Don't forget that you were one of two or three DJ's to get me into psytrance. Back in 2008 and 2009, I used to listen to your mixes like they were gospel. I've come into my own style, and hope we can share techniques and advice. I'll always remember the advice you gave me on my mix Color Flux. I took it to heart and improved, just as you should
