American DJ DCD-PRO200 MKIII (dual CD)

Alright guys...is this any good? It's cheap enough for me, but damnit, I wanna know if it's worth buying for! My budget is really, really low, so I don't want to buy two Pioneer cdj100s, unless that's my only choice...

I'm not really familiar with CDJ players myself, but I haven't heard that much good things about American DJ..

Though I'm sure there aren't really bad players for sale anymore (the company just wouldn't sell any and be broke soon enough), so if you really don't have more money, go for it. If you can wait and save some more, go for Pioneers (or vinyl decks of course )

Thanks basd,

I know it's completely a quality issue, but I heard that some Aussie had used American DJ cd decks and was completely satisfied with them. I was wondering if someone had any precise information and/or experiences on these bastards.

I already have two turntables, direct driven Gemini XL-500s, so I'm not in instant need of upgrading them right now, but I'd like to add two cd decks to my system because I also produce music (?!) myself.

I've also heard that the quality of cd decks doesn't vary as much as the quality of turntables. Of course Pioneer would be the Technics of cd players, but as cd players don't have to deal with such crucial issues as torque and moving the platter, the gap between the expensive and cheaper models is not that big really. Or at least so I've heard.

I'm new to cd spinning, so if you have something you'd like to add, please don't hesitate but let me know!!!

Well, as I said, I haven't got any experience with CDJ players myself..

You could very well be right about the fact that CDJ players don't differ as much in quality as TT's do.. I don't know

I think you should go for it when you heard some good reviews about it.. They're obviously not that expensive so that won't be the problem. Have fun with 'em

I have the Stanton s550s. They're not the top of the line or anything, but I get by just fine. Instant start, jog wheel, that's pretty much all I need.

I think i might be the aussie your talking about who's used the AMDJ CD players and thinks their fine.

Anyway with the 200mk3's have instant start which is good.

As I remember the main difference between these and other more expensive models are there is no jog dial. Which means you will be using push buttons to search and do pitch bends. This is abit annoying especially for pitch bends. But you should still be able to mix fine on them.

Suggestion go into the store and try searching through (Scanning) a couple of cd's and see how the buttons feel.

Other thing to watch out for make sure that the cd player doesn't skip with bumps to the table it's on. The 200mk3 has mechanical skip protection but I don't think it has anit skip memory. By the way in all normal cases mechanical anti skip should be fine. That's all mine have and they haven't skipped at a venue yet.

I reckon the 300mk2 might be a better buy as it has the jog dial which is much easier for pitch bends and I believe it also has 60 seconds of anti skip memory.

Cheers, Josh

Yep, you're the one I was talking about, Joshva!

Thanks a lot for the info, it really seems as if the 300mk2 was the best choice since the price isn't that much higher.

Now I'll only have to dig up the money somewhere...
