Can't stand the dude but after watching a few clips from his american show, he seems to be the sane person in most of the discussions one might consider controversial save religion. I mean it is a spectrum and when you are dealing with Americans, he just doesn't seem so bad at least as bad as he is when he talks to normal people with reasonable views were the only controversy he brings up is religion, I get that they fired him or used that gun thing as an excuse but as annoying has he was , well, i mean it seems even the most annoying brit commentator on his /her worst day makes everyone on fox and cnn look like monkeys.
Pierce Morgan is a massive tool, you can keep him on that side of the Atlantic. He fits in well with the majority of the garbage you have on TV, disguised as "journalists".
he's an annoying pompous douche. he thought he was gonna be the best interviewer ever... he was acting so cocky when he went on the howard stern show.... i think his arrogance got him canned.. and the whole newspaper scandal from UK

Watching his show made me cringe. Anyone recall when he called a gun rights supporter (albeit a naive person), a stupid man. I get it that Piers has a difference of opinion, but to get to name-calling only demonstrated his inadequacy to win the argument on merits. Good riddance.
I haven't seen the episode(?) in question, but Piers' defense of gun control sounds like one of the most sensible things about him.
quote:
My point is simple: More guns doesn't mean less crime, as the NRA repeatedly says. It means more gun violence, death and profits for the gun manufacturers. And to those who claim my gun control campaigning has been "anti-American," the reverse is true. I am so pro-American that I want more of you to stay alive.
You ARE stupid if you vehemently disagree with that.

Which is what got him canned. I prefaced that I thought he was the uk's o reilly but he sadly seemed to be rather sane compared to most of the other pundits
Bill maher is ok but he is a little stubborn on issues that well, vaccines , his support for drones ... John Stewart seems to be the most sensible on air person I can think of that is accessible and fair. After him , the people start being academics and are a little more dry and technical.
Many Americans knew he was a tosspot before he even took over Larry King's slot. The ones who didn't were easily predisposed to dislike him given that he has, in certain instances, demonstrated that he *gasp* can be a well-spoken foreigner with opinions contrary to that broken souvenir we call the US status quo.
Attempting to single-handedly repeal the 2nd Amendment must have been the last straw, huh? Fella's lucky we didn't hang 'em over on yonder hangin' tree.
Not that there are any pundits worth their weight in shit. If Bill Maher got any more smug on air, we'd give him the same 10 ft berth we give Paul Reubens.
Bill O'Reilly is actually an interesting guy. I know he comes off as monumentally obtuse on his show, but the man is actually very well educated (though not Juilliard material) and quite seriously earns thousands of dollars every time he asks a lesbian an uncomfortable question. Pretty sweet deal if you ask me.
