Unhappy ever had the track of your life in your head, then forgot it?

2 days ago i had this laidback progressive track track in my head.. kinda Leama & Moor meets Planisphere.. loads of melodies and counter-melodies.. then 5 mins later i had forgotten the main lead, and 15 minutes later i forgot the entire track.......... it kinda pisses me off the best melodies i ever came up with get lost. cause when you're inspired everything comes naturally, but when you're looking at a piano roll there's no way in hell to come up with all that stuff...

just my 2 cents, anyone else who feels/felt the same way?

yeah it happens to me all the time! MAybe get a dictaphone or voice recorder and hum them into it when they pop into your head? Just a suggestion.

I suffer from having cool tunes in my head and not having the musical knowledge to get them down on a sequencer.

I'm lucky in that i'll go to bed, usually come up with a whole song in my head with all the elements and be able to remember it for an eternity. To be honest though in the last months i haven't done much production wise as i've been busy moving from London, but just got myself a Virus C and some stuff so gonna finalize all my ideas and complete them. I'd recommend a dictaphone also, or just sing it into your answerphone on your mobile. Take care, Tom

Hello!

Really, its not that hard to keep the tune, you just have to stop being lazy ...

For instance, when you wanna hum the tune into your pocket recorder or whatnot, but everyone is asleep, just go outside even if its freezing... If its way too cold or impractical, besides the fact that you're a wuss, you can also do what I do: bury your head and phone inside some pillows or in the corner of a couch at the far end of the building so your sound is minimized.

When you're away from home, use your cell phone and leave yourself a voicemail. If you don't have a cell phone, fork out the $5/month for a beeper with voicemail from smartbeep or some shit, and keep quarters handy for those payphones.

you wont wake up the house by whistling a bit, will you?
i do it all the time, i record it into a tape cassete recorder
but when i'm sitting down to make something, i'm too lazy to go listen to the tape and use what i have there, so i'll just come up with something new.

i should go through that tape sometime hehe
