I'd hate to think 1 liners on facebook/twitter are all we have left...

The ease with which we can post photos/videos now are a major added bonus but I miss the the unbridled enthusiasm of the average joe in the crowd writing out their opinion.

The real answer is: those people you talk about, the people who are still posting on message boards like this (rarely a go-to place for information anymore) and the people who still in their late 20's/early 30's+ going to our parties are.... fading out.

I hate to say it, but after decade or so you will reach a plateau and find the enthusiasm much harder to come by. I personally still enjoy it, looking for music, seeing djs, reading/writing small reviews etc. But I am no where near the level of enthusiasm as I once was 5-8 years ago. Even going to parties now I just show up. Don't bother figuring out what to wear, pre-partying, setting the whole day and day after aside. Ugh, priorities.

Point is, the those people you mention are directly in line with the substance and quality of music coming out, emerging or is the future. With commercial music, I don't think the kids really care about writing in depth reviews, looking for after parties, understanding what underground means, track hunting etc. Social media and Facebook probably has a lot to do with that. With short attention spans and quick doses of information take so quickly, I don't think people will care tomorrow if they didn't care much today to write or read about a review.

I'm too old to be picking apart every detail of a party anymore. If the music is on point and the vibe is tight, I'm happy.

See, I'm not the only one who plateaued LOL.

I'm usually too drunk to write a proper review, that and I can't ID any song even if I have it lol. I only know if I had a good time or a bad time, if the music was outstanding decent or poor

I just go and have fun now. Don't over think it, don't listen to a ton of sets by whomever is playing beforehand.

I see a party, I know I wanna go because either:
1) I know who's playing and been meaning to see them (or again)
2) I've heard good things about who is playing, and decide that based on the date, location and who is going if I wanna go.
3) I'm supporting someone who is playing or involved in the party
4) I have NO FUCKIN idea who is playing, or even where it is, but the people I enjoy the company of, and/or trust their judgement and opinion are going so I may as well tag along for the good times.

I just stopped planning so much, make sure I can get there, loot in my pocket to cover it and a way home. I'm good, if I have a good time, sikk, if not, next time I guess.

I'll do a quick few lines of review after, but mostly if someone asks me 'How was it?', it's pretty much an answer of 'Fuck ya that was fun, I don't remember it all, but I recall enjoying myself!'

I tend to remember more what makes a party bad, rather than what made it good.

Well it's no surprise that enthusiasm would dwindle over the years - I don't write reviews like I did in 2001! I wasn't referring to the veterans (us) who still party here and there but more so the newcomers.

They don't care this is a phase for them. Just like listening to happy hardcore was back in the early 2000's. Where are those people now? LOL

For most of us I think, going out usually just means going to Coda or to Ryze or the Hoxton or Cherry Beach or whatever. Always a good night out, but not really something to get so excited about so as to write a review. It's always just kind of the same.

Now when it comes to festivals and big one-offs, or something else a little more exciting than the usual night (new club opening, that sort of thing), it seems like we do still get a lot of reviews, whether here or on Facebook. Just look at the Electric Island and DD threads for example.

exactly the big events will cause more excitement... coda, ryze, all the places you mentioned and all of the lil spots to me still dont really cause the excitement as EI or a big festival... or Guverment... if guv catered to my tastes i think i would be more excited to go than lets say coda (even thou its my fav spot in the city)... i said it before Coda is missing something about it to set it apart, to make it different...

i wanted to make a standard review thread, where anyone can drop in and review their night out... i think it would be a great idea to keep TA alive and keep up with what happened around the scene in a night at each spot.... so many times i wondered how party x was but there was no review for it...

I think the new generation of house "Enthusiasts" (is that a good name for us lol) wants a place like TA to review and talk about whats going on in the scene... Ive been on TRC for maybe a year and its pathetic to say the least... the trolling is a bit funny but you cant have a discussion on TRC...

I think it also depends on who is playing as well. Most of the guys I want to see only get booked at festivals too. Coda had some nice bookings but as of late their bookings don't really coincide with my taste ( may go see avatism today ). Ryze had hernan b2b warren and tenaglia and there were a few reviews.

Hoping to see some for otherland series, and maybe some boat parties too.
