Confused Question about recording mix onto comp (Vestax PCV-275, Denon AVR 3802 receiver)

Somebody please help me! I'm pretty computer and electronic illiterate. Ok, this is my setup: 2 Technics 1200 M3Ds, 1 Vestax PCV-275 hooked up with RCAs to the cd port in a Denon AVR 3802 receiver which is connected to my computer using fiber optic and coaxial cables. I'll probably use Acid to record (unless someone recommends using another program). I can't get a signal on the computer from the receiver. However, when I plug the coaxial into the the cd player and the cd player into the receiver, it works fine. I can record from cds but not from my mixer. What am I doing wrong?? Any suggestions are appreciated.

nice equipment, that is exactly what i have! Except, i have a kenwood stereo instead.

in anycase, the recording process should be the same.

there are two main outputs on the back of your mixer, the top is TRS, the bottom is RCA.

All you need to do is send one output to your stereo and one to your computer. most soundcards take a 1/8" input, so you will need an RCA cable that ends in a 1/8" jack (like the little headphone ones)

(i have one going to an MD player instead, connection is the same, but i find it easier than mucking about with a computer)

then you need to connect from your mixer to your stereo, use a cable that is TRS on one side, and RCA on the other. I was able to get these cables cheaply at a local store.

hope that helps you out!

by the way, what do you spin?

Thanks for the reply. I'm leaving to go to the store now. Where exactly do I insert the 1/8" cable into the computer? One side into the headphone port maybe? what about the other side?? By the way, I spin Trance, Trance Breaks, and a lot of Funky Breaks.

the 1/8" jack will go into the LINE IN jack on your soundcard.
and, to be clear, there won't be two ends on the 1'8" only one.

i spin trance too, some breaks.

Heh, sorry. I'm back now. My computer froze while I was gone and I never bothered getting back on. I couldn't find the RCA/TRS cables that you have but I did get the 1/8" converters and that's all I needed. My receiver was already hooked up to my comp so I can record and listen at the same time. Many thanks, John. By the way, how's Pocahontas?
