Is the wip topic the best way of doing things?

Keep it as it is - it is the best solution and should be kept as it is
Move it to a new section - I would like to see a separate section in the producers section for WIP discussion
Post WIPs in the production studio
Don't care- I've never looked in it

Is the great big WIP topic the best way to deal with WIP feedback and discussion?
For me the topic is not working, most don't follow the rules and the topic is difficult to navigate. Posting last on a page means a track is rarely seen. Some feedback is clearly given just to allow the giver to post a track and is succinct as a result. The topic often goes off track, making it even more difficult to sit and do a feedback session. I don't think it's fair to ban a user from a specific topic no matter what they do, just put them on your ignore- in the wip topic I still have to read posts from people I ignore as they are quoted by people I don't!

I think there must be a better way - what do you think?

PS I quite enjoy listening and giving feedback, but this system puts me off most of the time and is almost impossible on mobiles

This should be a poll - god knows how that works though!

I don't think it works as it is, although I can't think of a better solution.

From my perspective I see the same people coming into to it all the time who use it for feedback while offering fuck all else to the forum.

I agree with all comments, thing is though we do need a place to post wips.. Don't think I would like them clogging up the forums front page and then it just gets annoying when people start bumping because nobody has left feedback.

I voted for a separate section.. I like the wip thread but only when the rules arent being broke by people just posting tracks without at very least giving some acknowledgement to others work.

Either post there and get honest feedback from people who are actually interested, or keep posting in the WIP for inauthentic and forced feedback from people pretending to be interested. Up to you.

That sounds about right. It's a good idea gone bad, from what I've seen.

Quite fankly, though, I really wonder why so many people feel this need to get approval or validation from others before they'll finish a track. Can't any of you guys (especially the more experienced ones) just finish a track in your own vision without other people's opinions, or input, or approval? Every time I see someone in that thread asking if they should finish a track, I just think to myself, jeezuz, just grow a f'ing pair already!

I don't see a better way to do this. All the alternatives to the WIP thread are inferior.

Exactly this. I don't care where the WIPs go as long as they don't flood the forum, since I never listen to unfinished tracks.
It seems like most people here are so obsessed with gear and technical trickery that they have absolutely no artistic vision whatsoever.
