The Garage scene in London is huge (probably because it has a massive black population, and rap/garage/R n B etc are traditionally black music), however I don't think there is anyone here (on TA) that likes it - to be honest I can't stand garage.
The main reason trance people don't like it I think is because the genre is populated by what are known in the UK as "rude bwoys" who wear Fubu jackets, have an inflated ego, masses of fake jewellery and drive round Brixton in sports cars with the chassis converted so it almost scrapes the road, blasting out their "garage grooves" and shouting "checkit!" and "keep it real" to passers-by while making some sort of bizarre masturbatory motion with their hand. If you like the music then I have no problem with that, each to their own, but I should warn you that the scene is infested with wankers. I don't know if you guys get Ali G in Australia, but he (among other things) takes the piss out of the garage scene, so is a good idea to go by.
Have you tried searching the net, there's bound to be some garage forums like this one?

i guess u guyz must view the garage ppl the same way us aussie trancers view punks. Australia is infested wif "Punks" who ride around on their skateboards/scooters and vandalize shit and listen 2 punk/alternative muzik which most trancers hate. I spose i view garage as being totally diff to punk.......but in the same respect i can c where ur coming from.

Try listening to some US garage, maybe thats what ur m8 played u, its very different to uk garage. Typical uk garage acts are so solid crew, oxide and neutrino, dream team, dj pied piper. Have a listen to some of there stuff, i think ull h8 it to be honest(i hope u do neway), its just a very basic form of music. Ne trance DJ could mix uk garage n ne trance producer could produce uk garage, its a piece of piss. But some of the US shit is ok, its more housey, even tho i dont like house, its a lot better than the uk stuff, its worlds away from the two step shit that is very much a london thing.
