Need Help With DMX For Moving Head Wash

I purchased this cheap no-brand moving head wash on ebay recently and the included manual seems to be for a totally different brand, as the text that appears on the panel is different.

Anyway I've figured most of the settings out already but I am still stumped what some faders control. I have marked what I have managed to identify on the pic below. I don't have a hardware DMX controller. I am currently controlling with a USB interface and DMXIS so I can sequence my own light show with MIDI.

The brightness and colour sliders seem to only respond to 0-127 (fader halfway), anything above is equal to max value. [Edit: Channel 7 is actually Brightness Resolution so push it all the way up you get 0-255 levels for RGBW]

Still don't know what Channels 2, 4 & 5 do. They don't seem to change anything.

I probably should have picked a known brand but they are 5 times the price! I want to build an R2D2-like robot and mount the moving head light on top!

Currently I have a laser unit, a derby and a moving head. Will get more units as I figure this stuff out, but I prefer to keep it minimal. The patterns on the 4-color laser aren't very interesting. Hopefully I can program better patterns using the DMXIS, otherwise I'll need to save for a 3D laser.
Interested in a multi-effect unit like the BeamZ Sway Gobo, if you know anything cool like this lemme know!

Can I not give text labels on DMXIS control panel faders?

I used to run the lighting at a well known club in Toronto and was a DMX ninja.

Now granted, it's been a few years but the beauty of DMZ is that it's basically midi and just about everything is programmable within those midi perimeters, (i.e. channel assignments, midi values, groups, messages etc).

First, here's the correct manual for the controller:

https://dol2kh495zr52.cloudfront.ne...MXIS_Manual.pdf

Read up on page 13 but basically you can assign any fader to nay light group or function that you want. What you're currently getting is just some default. It's going to take a while but you need to basically get all the lighting kit you want then assign he channels, then functions.

Go to page 18 to assign faders.

And eys, you can assign names ot the faders. I think it's a right click option?

Your problem here is that the cheap wash head seems to have it own assignments but you can do channel patching to put them in better order. Is there no info on the brand or manufacturer at all?

Personally, I never liked the USB only ones, they were flakey and bizarrely had less functionality becuase the DMX protocol meant they had to adhere to standards.

you could try running something like a bunch of commands in midi and track what does what in the log to attempt to map the functions,

If not, I'm afraid it's a case of YGWYPF

Thanks Rann, you're the man!

The seller sent me the proper manual. There's no brand names on the manual. I think it's just a generic OEM product. I understand now why I thought it wasn't working properly.

Basically Channels 2 & 4 are s'posed to be fine controls for pan & tilt, however I think the manufacturer disabled them as Channel 5 works like a brake--you want fine control you simply push Channel 5 fader to Max. Channel 2 & 4 were redundant. It's a good light but I'm not ordering any more of the same model.
I found a different model, just lightly more expensive, which has Red Green Blue Amber White & UV in the one unit. This will save space.

I think the next laser unit I will get is a Laserdock which allows graphic animations. It's not too expensive. This is just for home entertainment use so I don't need powerful lasers.
In a couple of years laser video projectors will also become affordable.
