i was able to get it to work. Replika installed no problem and the .dll file was where it should be but Ableton wouldn't find the plugin when it'd scan for it. i didn't realize you had to launch the NI Service Center app and activate Replika through that app before Ableton would even be able to find the app. I was expecting Ableton to find the plugin and just run it in demo mode until i enter a license.
i uninstalled all 4 Replika-related apps (Replika, Service Center, and the 2 Microsoft C++ installs that the initial setup had created). then i reinstalled Replika, launched Service Center and activated Replika, then opened Ableton but it still couldn't find Replika. so i uninstalled all 4 Replika-related apps again, searched the C: drive for "replika" and deleted all remnants, searched the registry for "replika" and deleted everything it found. then i reinstalled again and followed the same procedure i mentioned in this 2nd paragraph, voi la. now Ableton is finding it.
i wanted to post this in case anyone else has the same problem i did. it seems like there are other Replika issues that alot of people are running into, it is a brand new app after all, but this particular issue i had wouldn't allow me to try Replika at all. in the process of trying to figure out what the problem is, i said screw it and deleted the installer. then the next day i got a 2nd wind and took another stab at it. i think it's crazy that you can't run Replika in demo mode, it won't work without running the Service Center and activating it with a serial.
