You misunderstood my diagram. The flat line represents the pace of the song. Techno stays steady while Trance goes up and down.

Well, correct me if I'm wrong but trance has a four on the floor beat with melodic synths. Techno generally has a slightly less rythmic beat but with more variation.

Trance has more of a Bassline..that flows with the beat techno has less of a bassline ...then there are other factors....Trance has more melody, synth sequences....techno is more beat based...and usually Techno lovers...like that hard pounding 4/4 beat!! rather then those hypnotic synths and soothing melodies!!!

but Theres is a think line in all genres .. genres are very vague...cuz many songs have many aspects of songs included in them.....
Techno : Mauro Picotto - Verdi,The Horrist - One night in the city, Johann Heil - Bells of Avalon
Hard Trance : anything from Dj Scot Project
Trance: Epic/Uplifting/Melodic, anything mainly from Rank 1,Armin, Blank & Jones,Flutlicht,etc......
Progressive: anything from Timo Maas,Sasha,James Holden ect...

but there many songs that have more that one aspect....like Dumonde they produce very epic natured tunes with the melodies and breaddowns and build ups...but there beat is more hard trance then epic....
Mauro Picotto makes songs like Komodo,Lizard,Iquana that are trance....then tunes like Baguette, verdi which are techno...then stuff like Autumn(megamind mix) and Pegasus (Superclub mix) which are Tech-house... theres a thin line in those genres.........honestly there is a thin line between Trance/Techno/House... thats just my opinion on thinks some of you probably wont agree with me hehehe =)
