what are the most popular tools/BI Software that you use and is out there. (tableau, etc...)

not getting enough exposure to those in my current job, so may be learn something on my own that is in demand

Depends. Since you're mentioning Tableau, I guess you're looking for some front-end tool? I really like Tableau. I'm a Microsoft BI man myself, so obviously I'm in bed with SQL Server and Power BI. They're making good progress with Power BI's features, but it still can't compete with Tableau.

I'm currently looking into Azure Machine Learning, because that's where the money is the coming years

What do you do exactly?

yeah I work with SQL Server and SAP Business Objects.
I am looking to learn a new front end tool but would like to learn the architecture side of it as well. can you recommend a source of where I could learn Tableau?

Tableau and MicroStrategy are the most popular tools i guess. Pentaho is another great option, specially because it's a powerful open source BI tool

I'm currently doing ETL Development in an Informatica shop. Our company has been looking into purchasing Qlik Sense, which is a competitor of Tableau. I've played with it quite a bit. It's pretty cool. I hate Business Objects, it blows.

SparkSQL is the future. Better yet, SparkNoSql

Just Qlik Sense? Not Qlik as a whole? Also, what's the difference? I never knew about Qlik Sense, just Qlikview. I know quite a few people who work with QlikView, from what I hear it seems to be a very good tool. Though I get the idea Tableau is winning the battle, going by articles I read online.

From what I understand Qlikview is going to be slowly decommissioned in favor of QlikSense. That's their new direction. I don't have a whole lot of Qlikview experience, but I do like QlikSense. It's easy to use, seems pretty powerful and works quickly (unlike everything SAP lol).

I didn't mention it above, but I've also gotten to play around with SAP Lumira quite a bit. Meh, it sucks too. SAP blows.

With all of that said, I've never gotten a chance to use Tableau. I tend to agree with you that it seems like the product most of the others are chasing.

yeah looks like Tableau is on its own for now. may be MicroStrategy also, but looks like the majority of companies tend to go with Tableau

gonna look into some classes to get certified. tired of working with SQL and "Access"
my company reimburses the course as long as you don't leave the next 6 months.
