Dunno Text to speech program

I need a few vocals on a gig on Thursday. It should be like a mail voice saying a few things, just like the voice saying "sensations" at Sensations 2002, you get it...

What I would like to know is:

Are there any good programs for creating vocals like this? I don’t want the voice to sound all computerized.

If I record with my own microphone, what should I do to the recording to get the right “sensations” sound, I use CoolEdit to edit wavs? I understand that depends on my voice but I would need a few hints anyway as I’m a newbie when it comes to editing vocals…

Would really appreciate if someone could help me out... Thanks!

If you get a computer to do it then it WILL sound computerised. There may be some really state of the art stuff that makes it sound fairly realistic, but it would be expensive. I've got a very basic programme called SayIt, from AnalogX - www.Analogx.com - but otherewise just get a mate to do it and run it through your computer to beef it up.

That say it thing is pretty average. It's fun to make your computer talk dirty for about 1o secs, but then you get over it. The quality is very "marvin" like. (for anyone who knows the original computer voice).

What you really need is a vocoder box, or you can get a soft' vocoder. Orange makes a good one, but i think it might be VST only. There are others. Have a look in the production section and do a search for "vocoder/vocoders".
