get to know your TA rivals

i thought of making a thread so we could just see in general where everyone stands on issues. The following catagories are:

Religion:
right - conservative values, morals should be dictated to all
left - seperation of religion and state

Economy:
right- free market - La'zay fair [sp], pure capitalism
left - heavy taxes for more subsidies (socialist), take from rich give to poor, government intervention/regulation

Foriegn Policy:
right - tough stance when needed, intimidation, active role in influencing world governments.
left - dimplomacy, isolationsism, indifference.

Social Issues
left - pro (Abortion, Euthenasia, drugs, homosexuals marriage/adoption)
right - agianst (Abortion, Euthenasia, drugs, homosexuals marriage/adoption)

it may be hard to decide if you're left or right, so you can also say nuetral. and this spectrum doesnt show how far left or right you are.
if you want to add more catagories please do so, i just picked the most general ones i could find.

Me
Religion - left
Economy - right
Foriegn Policy - right
Social Issues - left

I do not agree on all of the categories (e.g. Bush is a right-winger and his foreign policies before sept. 11 could be described by your "left"-list), but keeping to the spirit of them, I'm:

Religion: left
Economy: right
Foreign policies: left
Social issues: left

Generally speaking, here is how I feel. Although, when it comes down to different situations, I may not be easily defined by a left vs right stance.

Religion:
left - seperation of religion and state
Economy:
right- free market - La'zay fair [sp], pure capitalism
Foriegn Policy:
right - tough stance when needed, intimidation, active role in influencing world governments.
Social Issues:
Abortion - Against
Euthenasia - For
Drugs - For the legalization of some, not all
homosexuals marriage/adoption - Undecided

Although it aint as black N white as described by Izzy some fundamental differences in views on politics/religion/culture are certain. 99% of those who for example support a hard uncompromising policy against Palestinian terrorism also advocated the Invasion of Afghanistan. This has simply to do with their basic attitude towards terrorism which is again derived from their general view on "foreign policy".
For a start I think a simplified introduction into everyone's general positions on certain issues is quite helpful

Religion - left
Economy - right
Foriegn Policy - right
Social Issues - left

Just like Izzy

JohnSmith is my rival. But i already knew that I've still got respect for the guy...

hmmm...i guess i shold explain my "left" on social issues. i believe that terminally ill patients should have the say whether they want to suffer more or end their life. Pro-abortion in early stages of development <3 months. Drugs? may actually reduce the number of dependants, while raising tax revenues for the State. More tax revenues for the State may be used to help people (bums) find jobs and do something with their life, but nut used for extensive social welfare programs such as in some (most) European socialist countries.

ok. there's my explanation...i guess i cotradict myself in some things...although, i'm not entirely right imo...i am, in my views more liberal than most hard-core conservative ppl.

im fairly right winged

Religion - right with freedoms to choose
Economy - right but slightly pro welfare
Foriegn Policy - left
Social Issues - pro Euthenasia but otherwise right

I like to meet in the middle with alot of issues. Its not too popular to be fully to one side. Thats why I vote reform in canada. they are living in the present, and use values from both sides. In my opinion that is necessary for success in this day and age.

I agree with these leftist views of yours. I believe in freedom of choice, in almost all cases. Except of course, it tramples someone elses freedom. "Your right to swing your fist ends when it hits my face" as someone said.

Looking forward to taking you on juricimo.
