Well, as far as trance goes in the US it can't be commercial cause nobody fucking knows about it. Trance is about as underground as you can get here.

And as for trance being made just to make money, I'd say that 90% of music is made for the purpose of making money. You think Britney Spears is making music because she really likes the way that her cheesy shit shounds?

Certain trance has gone mainstream and commercial and certain trance is underground. There will always be both i believe.

trance is by far the most above ground electronic genre in the US...some of it is ripoffs and some of it original...

Yes like DJ Nuclear said, trance is by far the most 'above ground' form of electronic in the US, however, trance is still widely unknown to people across the nation. Most people call it all 'techno' and think anything that is electronic is 'techno'. I just go along with it though and nod my head... It's just that everyone thinks that DJ Sammy, Darude, DJ Encore and the rest are all what all 'techno' sounds like... but I have a feeling it'll take a long time before (if ever) trance becomes mainstream in the US.

Id say it depends where you live

if your from europe.. i would say that trance would probably be more commercial than any other country, since it is predominant there

here in canada and the US it would be more underground ish.. some of the stuff becomes sapped and commercial, eg sammy & yanou - heaven, public domain operation blade, voodoo serano blood is puming, and sandstorm

none the less. it shouldnt really matter whether or not hte music is underground or commercial.. your suppose to like the music cause you like it.. not because everyone else doesnt

and im not saying that that applies to you or anyone.. just a little reminder....

I love club trance and that wont change for a while i dont think!... Im a semi euro junkie as well

"give me the joyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy.. oh baby! ONLY you.. can bring the power.. the power.. OWOAAOH.. only you .. can take me higher.. take me higher OWAAOH"

As with any other genre of music there are good tunes and there are bad. Why does this come as a surprise to you people? Its like some people expect ALL trance tunes to be A+ top quality stuff. Lets face it. Most DJ's and producers suck alot of ass. There are only a select few that really put out quality stuff time and time again. So enough complaining about the "mainstreaming" of trance or electronic music in general. There was crap trance when it started, there is crap trance now, and there will be crap trance in the future. Deal with it.

To be honest with you I dont really follow the trance scene that much anymore anyway. I've been into prog house and prog trance for the past few years I dont see that changing anytime soon. Plenty of great tunes in those sub-genres. It still has that underground feel even though the popularity has grown alot these past couple of years (especially this last year). I still like a good melodic trance tune every now and then but they are becoming few and far between. Peace.

I agree with the posts above. In Canada and the US trance is still pretty much underground. I was in Europe in the summer and Trance seemed to have come and gone and everyone was into other genres. Even prog seemed to be outdated and pretty much as commercial as other trance, at least in the UK. I over there, the techno and UK hardhouse was the stuff that was getting a lot of attention. I think I'll always be true to trance though, I still love it and I'm still discovering wicked tracks all the time. I also like spinning trance at the end of a prog or more tribally set and build up to it more as opposed to banging out trance anthem after anthem.
Just my opinion

Harsh, but this has to be the most meaningful post of them all here.

If you like Trance, then good.

If you dont like it, then that ok too. Your decision.
