Re: Commercial raves

How many of you Vancouverites have had it with commercial raves. By commercial I mean partys that are legal and have Big promotions ie. Plaza parties, River side.
It hurts to see the Dance scene in Van Die but who wants to support it when things are the way they are these days.
I want to know how many of you out there just said enough is enough of this crap and just stopped going for one reason or another.
What Id like to know is what are your reasons for leaving it behind and where do you think the Van dance scene will be in the near future ? |
I only thing hurting the scene is the City of Vancouver. I don't think big promoters are a problem nor the commercial raves. You have to admit you never see a top producer/dj spinning in a illegal venue.
As for the scene in the future. I belive it will become underground again, like it was 7 or 8 years ago.

the thing is, these kind of parties are everywhere, not just vancouver. every big city has its massives, and every big city has a problem with the type of people attend.
i notice in vancouver its a lot of older asian people on e. down in seattle, its a lot of older preppie/jock type guys fucked up on e (who hit on the 13 year olds who are also fucked up on e).
regardless, the problem is everywhere, and it seems a typical cycle that the newbies love that kinda thing, and the people who have been around for a year or two learn to hate it. thus the cycle continues. unfortunately, theres probably not a whole lot anyone in ANY city can do. i think its something that just has to be accepted. or, go to clubs, thats all i do heh

i only been to summer love last year and that was enough for me.
in another thread it was said that avb is gonna play at twisted next april, i think im just gonna go there for armin's set and leave after. the only reason i would go to a rave
as for the dance scene in van, at the moment, i think its alright. we get lots of house and prog djs but also some nice trance once in a while, makes me happy would be great if the scene grew more popular for the music, we need more dance lovers in the city. you guys are right, its not the propoters, i think they would bring big name djs if only there was a big enough demand. they know that they can make more money bringing nelly rather than ferry. cant blame them.
and every saturday, i praise xfm for having veolocity on, attracts more ppl to the scene.
hopefully, in the future, things will get better. i'll be keeping my fingers crossed
