this REX file format thing... anyone use it before?

since samples are static... can you use this to remove like the hats from a drum loop and stuff like that?

or maybe increase the volume on the hats alone etc.

It's a 20+ year old format so I dare say people have used it before.

It's basically a transient slicer so yes to all your questions. Volume adjustment is dependent on the device using the slices, but it's just splitting audio into lots of little chunks based on detected transients.

They do come in handy if you need to speed up a loop without having any timestretching artifacts affecting transients and timbres.

Nearly every daw still supports rex and if you have samples already in .rex then might as well use them. Recycle itself has become a bit obsolete as every daw now has it's own hitpoint thingy built in, and that's not even getting in to Live which was basically recycle made in to a full on sequencer.
