I have only had a few generic song requests by labels a couple of times and they always seemed ...fishy
Today however, I received a label request that actually seemed legit.
However, spelling in the letter seemed, questionable lol as if a kid drew this up.
ie:

Hi systematicx1,


You get the following message from Tom [ Label Manager ]:

"Hi,
Tom here from the label "Cadillac Records",nice to meet you!

Your music is good,i have heard it, and i'm interested to release it trought our record label.

We are an indipendent label and we distribute our music on all best digital shops in the world : Beatport, ITunes, Spotify and many more(about 300 shops),

and we work only with high profile artist/producer.

The power of our label is in the promotion of our producers, because without it no one will ever know your music.

The "Contact me ONLY and exclusively" part is what I am questioning the most.
So, my question is to those who have gone through this. Is this normal, I mean..why would it matter.
Or am I reading to much into that lol
As well, I am HARDLY a "high profile" artist

Never heard of them, but I've had a quick look and the label has at least had a fair few releases over a decent amount of time. You can't really fake that on beatport and although the guys English is a little wonky, it's just probably it's not his first language. All the name of most of the producers on his label seem Eastern Euro, so it's likely it's legit.

As for contacting him directly, it;s perfectly normal. He probably doesn't want to have to communicate via a forum and with things like contracts, it's best to do it direct if it ever gets legal.

I wouldn't expect the world though, it's a small digital label, but it could be some nice exposure. Let him send you a contract before you decide to sign, post it (if allowed) or PM it, and I'll have look to see if it's legit.

It's an Italian label, so the wonky language is understandable.

Ask them what they are offering specifically. Either they're carpet bombing and sending messages to any and all producers or they really want you.

Truth of the matter is that exposure for a little guy like me is always nice. Personally, the recognition alone is fulfilling. I don't expect anything really.

And as for spam, I have multiple accounts on hearthis and SC and this is a first of it's kind,that I have seen,still it always could be. Only one way to find out I guess..lol
