I remember I saw a video from a russian guy many years ago on how to do this

He put the portion of the acapella he wanted to use into Edison on fruityloops and I forget the effect he applied (it was built into fruity but i forget if it was in edison or in the mixer channel).

What it basically did was to hide all but the first syllable of the word, then that would hold that syllable so it had an effect of changing the acapella into a harmony, so it sounded like a female singing 'ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh'

What was really clever though was that he was able to combine this with other parts of the acapella to have a harmony that changed notes as the pads changed.

But yeah he did that from a plain acapella with no harmonies in it just words. Anyone any clue what I am on about, im trying to think of example maybe vocal mix of hydra affinity with the harmonies in the background it sounded like that.

Im NOT talking about vocal chops either FYI

It creates a long ahhhhhhhhhh effect from the vocal, kinda like if you held a note down on a synth, it just holds it and eventually tails off naturally

So the remixer had the acapella and the guy sung 'Save Me' but by using this method I am talking about he can create a nice background harmony where we hear 'Sa' only and this first syllable holds and as this still holds we hear the notes change on the vocal but we hear no more vocal/words.

Hope that makes sense it;s the exact example and I watched the guy do it from a bare bones acapella in Edison, I am certain he used the 'Blur' tool in Edison

This is exactly the type of effect I am talking about from an acapella.

Shame I lost the russian guys vid though, it was release level quality what he did with an acapella!

That's actually quite excellent videos also but no I dont think it was this guy, the videos were more amateur. I know it was russian because it had a text layover with russian text.

I kinda have the results I want with edison and blur tool, however I think there was at least 2 other things in the chain to create that effect. I'll keep trying
