Is this a new drive?
If so...
Install the drive. Set the BIOS to "Auto-Detect".
Insert the Windows XP CD-ROM and restart the system.
Follow on-screen prompts. At the "create partition" screen, highlight the drive.
Press "Enter" to set-up Windows XP
Or, if you want FAT32 (32 Gig max)
Press "C" to create a partition
Finish the rest of the installation.
If you boot from the XP CD, the installation wizard should prompt you to format with NTFS; you could do it from there.
It'll format, reboot and then proceed with the OS installation...

"...End? No, the journey doesn't end here. Death is just another path...one that we all must take.
The grey rain-curtain of this world rolls back, and all change to silver glass...and then you see it...
...white shores...and beyond...the far green country under a swift sunrise."
