The war on Iraq was not decided this month, not months ago, not after sept.11 but on the very day Bush got into office.
Which doesn't imply it's wrong.

i agree. this was has been predetermined, and has nothing to do with the UN, WMD, or multilaterlism.

the US wants saddamn deposed, and they will do it.
nobody can stop them, even if they wanted to. there is no "guardian angel" to step in and beat back the americans like the americans did for kuwait. the US are the biggest and baddest bullies around, and they will have their way.

The diplomatic efforts are merely to quell unrest around the world, but intelligent people know, this war is going to happen.

maybe there was a time when war could have been averted, but not now, after dubya has moved billions of dollars worth of equipment, and over 100,000 troops to the area. it's simply too late to turn back now i believe.

that said, it will not stop me protesting! I am organizing another protest as we speak. I predict the antiwar movement will get bigger, and maybe eventually dubya will listen to the world.

I agree, Bush would lose face pulling 100,000 troops back, but I'd like to see if anyone has any interesting theories to the contrary.

These must be the biggest protests in the US since Vietnam??

I highly doubt there is any action Saddam Hussein could take to prevent an attack on Iraq. Suicide might make it interesting, but I'm not even convinced that would avert a conflict.

Yeah it would be pretty hilarious.

That would be an interesting situation indeed. But aside from that, I think the only other option he has is to give all of his oil fields to americans. They'd probably be satisfied then.

Why would the US government be embarassed and speachless. This would only prove the right of the US government by showing that Saddam is indeed aware of the horrors he has caused.

this is sad , such naivity. I HIGHLY doubt, that saddam hussein would kill himself over the 'horrors' he has caused.

but then again....he has a point, ...even though its a little warped, why would the US be embaressed and speechless?...they wouldnt, they would just proceed to begin ammendments on the country.

Every nation in the world would be worried at the sight of hundreds of inspectors roaming their country, backed by such military muscle. It is only natural that he is worried they might be spying. SNAFUman, I don't see how it is feasible to let so many people 'from around the world' roam your country under the pretense of looking for certain weapons. Someone would abuse that right and try to dig a little deeper, work out his military capabilities and locations of his defences.

These weapons inspectors might not be 'spying', but I bet they are still gaining valuable information on the size, location and capability of his forces.

Are there any plans to make the Iraqi 12,000 page report accessible to the public? I'd like to hear some journalists/experts interpretations of the report rather than getting all of my information from one source like the government.
