I think you may be SOL.

I did a quick look at program they're using and from a network admin prespective; it rocks and will definately handle a lot of bandwidth issues.

So to answer your question, HTTP is part of the 'Application Layer' (Layer 7) in which this program is specifically choking.

naw dude, they limit p2p and the like.. HTTP flows around 200-500kb/s while p2p is going around .5 kb/s..

When I was using my university's network they did the same thing to stuff like Audiogalaxy and Kazaa. I did use http tunnel to get around it and it worked, but it still isn't that much of an upgrade. I could only get up to 4k/s with it and finally said screw it and used Direct Connect. In the end it really is a pain in the ass to set up, and I can't really help you with it cause it was a year and a half ago and I haven't used it since. Maybe someone else can help you, just don't expect to be flying along like you can on an ftp or http.

So do you know for sure that an HTTP tunnel will bypass it?
I'm not so sure that Packet Shaper is considered a HTTP 'Proxy'.

If it will (or at least you can give it a shot): check this http://www.htthost.com/

If not, they'll just limit your HTTP via account name after your name goes up on their TOP 10 list lol

we'll see, dude. I've talked to a few of the admins here and so far, as I understand it, they do no individual monitoring as there are 22,000 students here. Theres just the shaper between me and my goal.

I use http-tunnel...
with the free version, your speed is limited. But you can purchase a key to access the highbandwidth service. I recommend you Dl the program, and use a the 'TEST' feature, which tells you how fast it is using the free, and how fast it will become once you purchase it.
I purchased it for a month, so the serial i have is only valid for a month.

The pricing structure is as follows:
1 month is 4.99
3 months is 13.97
6 months is 26.94
12 months is 49.88

if the speed difference is worth paying for it.....then that's an option.
