Buying/Selling Room Turning Into Auction Site!

I think the rules for the buying/selling room. Should be changed. Sellers are constantly using tactics to rip people off, or take more than they should for a record. For example, whenver you ask someone how much they want, they say "make an offer". Or when they post it, they put "PM me with offers." And obviously they will take the highest one. It is really annoying and it plays mind games with people looking for records. My point is simple:

If you want to auction your shit off, put it on ebay and post a link.

I think anybody selling should have to post an asking price, that way buyers don't have to play games trying to figure out how much they need to offer (overspend) for the record. This will also prevent newbies from getting ripped off (like when that guy posted Armin - Sunburn and was asking 25 pounds for it). I think this will make transactions a lot simpler and smoother.

The only time i've used it I was highly satisfied, but I can see what you mean, using ppl to up prices is for ebay, and maybe the 'offers' term should not be allowed, if people want to bid higher knowingly then fine, but using tactics to do it isn't fair imho

I think this it`s a good idea

An example is:
A guy is selling a record and he want people to pm him offers. If he get an offer from only one person at 5$ he can reply and say the highest so far is 10$ and the buyer must pay him even more than that if he want the record. So the selles have easy ripp off opportunities.

An Auction would be great!

Cool

i think it seems to be human nature trying to rip people off, although i must credit people who i have bought off

i find it easiest just to say u want an asking price then u can decide

its commen business sense, the seller wants to sell at the highest price, the buyer wants to buy at the lowest price, so it can either be a sellers market or a buyers market but not both.

how about rock paper scissors ?

Seriously though, I think an asking price should be made, and the first person to agree to that price gets the goods, if you want auctions go watch bargain hunt

That's the whole point, not everyone knows the real value of an item. And sellers can be very manipulative, they'll post a rare record, then say "Make an offer", than 4 days later post again "The highest offer I've got is $40. Does anyone want to make a higher one?" That sort of thing should be kept at ebay.

true i do see your point but the seller is out there to make the most £££ (or $$$), in most cases when ever i buy something new i shop around and look at the prices at other stores and web sites etc, before setting myself a maxium limit to what i would spend, perhaps it would be a idea for any possible buyers to do some research first, as for 30 mins work could save them a few £££ (or $$$)

I see your point, but this isn't an auction site. The buying selling forum is for legitimate buyers and sellers to trade/buy/sell items. The sellers know the minimum they'd sell for and the buyers know the max they'd spend. It's not about ripping people off.

If a seller is gonna sell Lost Tribe - Gamemaster, it would make it so much less confusing if the seller said I'm selling this for $50, rather than "EXTRMELY RARE, HIGH AND SERIOUS OFFERS ONLY". That's BS, the seller knows how much he wants for the record, and he should just ask for it to clear up confusion.

True, i do see your point, but at the end of the day it could only be a sellers market or a buyers market, not both, so only the sellers or buyers are going to be happy. You can say show a price to keep all the buyers happy so they can get the lowest price, whilst all the people selling will want to get the highest price possible and will use all possible methods known to them.

At the end of the day it is down to the buyer to research their maxium price that they are willing to pay, if that seller wont sell to them there still maybee another person out there who may sell to them.

Jon

P.s soz if i sound like a geek but i do this kinda stuff at university
