Some light reading...but a little synopsis for you from the United Nations Industrial Development Organization...

Brief Description: Modern and efficient energy technologies offer feasible and promising options for reducing Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions and mitigating the threat of global climate change. Introducing these new technologies to energy systems of the Developing World is neither easy nor cheap. It is generally acknowledged that progress in preventing climate change will not happen without emission reductions in both Developed and Developing Countries. Since the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) is the only practical vehicle for Developing Countries' participation in the Kyoto Protocol, success in fighting Global Warming is contingent upon success of the CDM itself. The CDM is a mechanism based on private investment, so its early development will require efforts to bolster the awareness and interest of industrialists and investors in Developed Countries.

It one of the 'talks of the town' here in Canada because our Prime Minister is trying to push it through and have it sign before the end of this year.
All the provinces and private sector are in a back lash because the government's proposal is appearantly very weak and no very well thought out.
Hence we even have T.V. commerials regarding the opposition to it, the need for a better solution against the band-aid one being proposed.
The biggest fear being the loss of jobs and $$$ with the current one.

The grey rain-curtain of this world rolls back, and all change to silver glass...and then you see it...
...white shores...and beyond...the far green country under a swift sunrise."
