mixing turntables
i was wondering, to mix you dont need to scratch so isntead of buying expensive direct drive tt's why not buy belt drive tt's and save all that money if your not gonna use the direct drive motor's full potentiel? or whats the difference?

Direct drive especially the one's with Quartz lock, give you the best accuracy. Belt driven turntables tend to drift off beat, but if you cue up DD turntables just right you can leave them mixing on their own. No matter what anyone says, ALWAYS buy DD Quartz lock turntables, preferably technics

basically shit dex dont spin round right, they speed up (wow) and slow down (flutter) by themselves at times. they also are very hard to correct on as the motors are weak.
I would have to say i was tempted to buy belt driven decks. You want decks so damn fast and you have little money and you will tend to lean towards the quickest way of getting some turntables, whether they be good or crap quality. Well i am glad that i didn't waste my money because i would eventually be paying for it in the long term. 1200's rule!

Always go for direct drive TT's ALWAYS !
and preferably direct drives with nice high torque.
do not expect all direct drive decks to be the same.
Mine are Stanton str8-100's which have an incredible amount of torque, to judge how good the torque is on a deck put a vinyl on the platter and start her up, now apply some pressure to the vinyl with your finger, if u can get the vinyl to stop spinning but the platter underneath is still moving then it has good torque.
i had a play with a friends Numark direct drive decks the other night and they were so bad, my cue track was slightly faster than the live track, so to correct it, u run your finger gently along the dots on the side of the platter, these numarks stopped dead ! and that was with the barest amount of pressure, i was like OMG shit ! !
