i think that everyone knows that the people that are helping oak out are andy and steve. i think steve might have some of his own stuff, but not real well known.

junkie xl does also some producing for sasha.. tiesto has geert huinink doing some stuff... and i know for rank 1 the guys.. they are with like 40 people working on it but its only the 2 big names who get credit for it..

U got a SuperStar Dj that everybody knows about and u got a "unknown" producer , u put the superstar dj's name on the record and it will sell 10 times as many copies.

In that sense , the dancemusic scene doesn't differ that much from the pop music scene.

That's quite unfortunate. When I hear a good tune, I think of the big name and I don't consider who might be helping him out. Makes you wonder who the real geniuses are.

Well in the case of Sasha n Charlie May. Sasha said himself that he was crap around the studio. He knew whats sounds he wanted and where he wanted his track to go, but he had know idea how to put his thoughts into a composition. This is where Charlie May came in, as he is a quality producer and knows his way around the studio.. he has the knowledge to get the most out of the equipment. This goes for a lotta DJs as well. As for there being a production team of 40... i find that very very hard to believe. The most people i've seen working on a track was around 6-7 dudes, but the track wouldn't have been released under one name, and instead released under a group ie: Groove Armarda.

If you own any albums/compilations, open up the sleevenotes and go to the track notes. It lists the producers n label and year, rights n all that. There you can see how many people work on a certain tune

damn i wish that i had a charlie may doing my studio work... i want to just think up the ideas and then have it put together i could do that. its the manipulation of the studio equipment that i always have the biggest problem with.

James Holden is behind Sasha - Bloodlock ...as you can tell from listening to it. James Holden is my fave if not best producer atm.

James Holden is a sick producer in his style, but wouldn't be the best producer at the moment. His tracks are all the same style - which i love - but it would be interesting to hear him having a go and breakbeats or more minimal deep prog. I'm sure he could pull it off in style, but its strange to see him not having a go as he seems like a foreward thinking man.

The reason BT is praised so much for his producing skills is that he has made so many smashin tunes in a variety of genres. Trance, house, progressive, breakbeat, drum n bass. He's influenced by so many styles and his productions are also very solid. Filled to the max with effects n layers. Same goes for Mike Truman of Hybrid. So talented n always coming out with something fresh. JunkieXL is another talented bastard, listen to his work on ADD, then his "Sounds of the Big Drags" album and Obsession with Tiesto, he goes all over the place

On many house tracks...you will find Si Begg on the production credits. Stephen Jones and Ricky Simonds are behind Lustral, Chakra and Space Brothers. You will find Nick Muir's name on John Digweed's releases. Junkie XL is a name cropping up on many releases these days.

Would be awesome to see him go into Breaks as well, hes still young and has already done a lot. I think he would kill us with breaks, or if he went to a funkier side of prog he would do well, simply because he knows his craft so well. The reason why I say he is one of the best producers around rite now is that his productions are flawless and very original sound to his pieces out. Mike Truman is also genius with his productions and wide range of area he covers. Hybrid comes in near the top with Junkie XL nearby as well.

i don't agree Mr Holden is amazing and should stick with what he does best and as for charlie may well need i say any more the man is behind so much good stuff, he is one of my fav. producers around.
