Was John Askew the spiritual successor of Paul Van Dyk?

I'm not saying Askew ripped off PVD's style. It's just that they both had that driving, pumping, uplifting trance sound, and Askew emerged in the scene around the same time PVD had that signature sound during the turn of the millenium.

I don't mind the kickdrum in Askew's tracks, but I understand why you feel that way.

Never got that feeling. But I love John's often very long sets which also contain pumping techtrance and many old classics.

That's very good to know. That makes me wonder if he tours and plays a lot of oldies, cuz if he's ever in my area I shouldve gone.

I think gone are the days when the top DJs are going to play their own classics. So we may have to rely on other DJs to play their golden age tunes.
