what do you guys think about eminem? ill share my thoughts after i read what you guys gotta say =]

Eminem is a pawn, a tool of the money-making corporations that created him.

I have no idea as to his rapping abilities or whatever as I have jackshit knowledge of these areas (rap does not interest me in the slightest....).

I feel sorry for him in a way, the way that he is forced to swear and do/say stupid things to get attention and sell albums. If the music is really that good, let it speak for itself, rather than swear and offend for itself.

Do a search, I remember a long thread titled "The Eminem Show" a few months back that had some pretty intelligent discussion in it (if u have a serious flame retardant )

My thoughts:

I think he is only "popular" because he is white. I mean yeah he was the first white rapper to really make it big (Vanilla Ice doesn't count ), but he really needs to get over it. In every song, there is some mention about how he is white. No sh*t.

His rapping ability is OK. But it really is hard to tell between all of the profanity.

Also, "Without Me" has a house-ish beat. Nobody listens to techno? you're right, thats why you have a house beat in your song. Friggin hypocrite.

Bah, if thats that all of the little kiddies consider to be popular, than I'm glad I'm not in the "in" crowd.

On one hand... He is a disgusting, tasteless jackass... However, on the other hand, you gotta admit that he has some catchy beats in there. The other thing that is interesting is that all of his songs tell a story... the story of his life... like about his daughter and family and drug experiences. Kinda gotta pity the guy but his rap for the most part im sure is true. Still a scumbag for mocking techno though. haha

Simply put:

Eminem is a talented rapper that can write good lyrics if he wants to.(just check out "White America".You have to admit that he's right about a lot of things that he's saying here.)The problem is that he cares too much about being a total asshole and making money,rather than making good music.

why has there suddenly been loads of posts about Eminem? whats wrong with him? hes got nothing against Trance music - just Techno and Disco!

I think it really depends on which eminem we are talking about. The campy one who deos tracks like the "real slim shady" or even "without me" sounds irritating after hearing it a couple times. If anything Eminem shines when he is downright serious. On tracks like "cleaning out my closet" and "stan" i think his lyrical ability becomes more evident. what people don't understand is, all the hateful material written by Eminem is its designed to revoke a response from people. Being controversial almost makes his album a number one hit. Its funny, all the people claiming to stand against him are making him all the richer by protesting. As far as him being more popular because he's white, i'm sure that plays a part. even eminem has recognized that. But, it should be no surprise. It s formula that seems to work. Even, groups like the backstreet boys and in sync have been striving to sound more r&b.
