hehe sorry MD lovers , i couldn't help it !
just giving some other options that's all .. |
He didn't ask whether he should get MD vs. mp3, he was just asking *where* to find an MD.
I would much rather listen to ATRAC Type-R than mp3 anyway, imo...
GT_Trance, if you need to do live recordings as well, like lectures or whatever, then for sure get a portable MD recorder. Otherwise if you just want playback, and are not really interested in the sound quality difference (unfortunately!) then check out a mp3 player (or mp3/cd player, as desidel is suggesting).
Another factor to consider is that MD's are mucho expensive.
Definitely DON'T go to Futureshop or any other store here, and DEFINITELY not the Sony store!! Unless you think it's fun to pay a helluva a lot more than you could/should be paying.
The best places to buy are
1) Online.
2) Pac Mall!!! (lol)
Pac Mall is an advantage because you can get stuff there that you can't get in any other physical store here in Toronto. Most garbage Futureshop's etc. carry Sony's only!! And only 3 models to boot, too, the N505, N707 and the N1. (Though I DID see a 900 at a generic hi-fi suburbs store, which is surprising) They all have their quirks. You won't find Panasonics or Sharps at all here! That's why Pac Mall is so good.
The advantage of getting stuff online (esp. minidisc-canada) is warranty, and you don't have to haul your ass over to Pac Mall to get stuff in person (an issue for my lazy, etobicoke-residing ass).
I think those are most of your choices. Please ask further if you need more clarification.
