Mixing back into the first song

I was just playing around with a couple tracks and let the mix drag on. It sounded much better to go back to the first song than let the second one play. Kinda hard to explain. I was playing the first track, mixed the second in and then went back the first. I was just wondering if anyone used this live and what the effects on the crowd were. I might have to try it live.

Thanks in advance.

I've heard an older set by PvD MOS where he does that near the end I think mixing 1999 (his mix) with another track, it sounded REALLY good. I say you do it.

Yes, this is a technique called teasing. It doesn't work with all tracks, but the ones that it does work with really can sound increadible. You can use it to overcome long gaps without a bass beat etc and make the energy double!

Cool Thanks

Thanks, I thought it could be put to good use. I always assumed teasing was just playing the hook of a well known song during another as a foreshadowing. Oh well. Thanks again, I'll have to use it and see what happens.

ive practised this a couple times with ferry corsten - punk and a breaks remix of pvd - for an angel '98

right when i breakbeat part of punk comes in, i mix into for an angel...then i mix back into punk after for an angel is done

sounds good but i dunno if its worth it to do it live...such potential for massive trainwrecking haha

"Paul van Dyk - Live Ministry of Sound Session (06-12-1999) Part 1" was the set that he did it. Near the end I think it was.
